Mrs. Edna Roggen, age 96, of Edmond, Oklahoma, formerly of Orange City, went home to her Savior on Monday, June 3, 2019, at Veraden Senior Living in Edmond.

Edna Mae was born on October 21, 1922, on a farm south of Newkirk, the daughter of John and Tillie (Van Es) Blom. She was raised on her family’s farm until 1943, when it was destroyed by a tornado. She attended Northwestern Junior College in Orange City, and graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, with a bachelor’s degree in education.

On July 5, 1944, she married her sweetheart, Leon Roggen, in Maurice. They made their first home on Coronado Island in California before moving to Orange City. In 1992, they retired to Bella Vista, Arkansas, and in 2003 they moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Leon passed away on September 8, 2003, in Tulsa. Edna later moved to Edmond and became a resident of the Veraden Senior Living.

Mrs. Roggen was a wife, mother, schoolteacher, choir director, retail shop owner and fabulous grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She enjoyed every one of these roles immensely and with gusto. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a brother, Peter Blom; and two sisters, Alice Blom and Anna Lyftogt.
