Kathleen VanPelt ’76 Gross
Kathleen Gross, 69, was reunited with the love of her life on May 29, 2023.
She was born October 14th, 1953 in Perth Amboy, NJ. She was the first of 5 children to Stanley and Louise (French) VanPelt. After graduating from the Hillsborough School System, Kathy studied at Hope College in Michigan as well as abroad in Colombia, South America. She enjoyed working as a Spanish teacher at Immaculata High School, but left after a few years to start a business with her Husband.
Kathy will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. As a youth, Kathy was active with the Girl Scouts, with her father, and continued on to lead her own Girl Scout troop for 13 years. Her favorite hobby was baking and she often created intricate cake designs to celebrate milestone birthdays, pregnancies and more. Even more though, she loved children, especially her two grandchildren. She spent many weekends cheering them on in horseback riding competitions, teaching them to bake, visiting the beach and even on amusement park rides.
Kathy leaves behind two children, Sara Hancock and Sean Gross; two grandchildren, Natalie Hancock and Evelyn Hancock; and many brothers, sisters and friends, too numerous to list.
