Ellen ten Hoor ’72 Fitch
Ellen Sue (ten Hoor) Fitch, 70, died suddenly and unexpectedly at her home in Laketown Township on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Ellen was a mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ellen was born February 25, 1950 in Holland, Michigan to Henry and Beatrice (Visser) ten Hoor. She graduated from Holland Christian Schools and Hope College. Ellen’s varied career included working as a travel agent, participating in the downtown Holland revitalization project, functioning as a church secretary, and most recently, serving on the Laketown Township Parks and Recreation Commission. Ellen possessed many instinctive and natural gifts. With animals, she cared for everything from chickens to sheep to mules. She was a productive gardener and raised generous crops of asparagus, beans, and tomatoes. She was an excellent cook and her skills extended from the ordinary to the exotic. She educated herself on the stock market and became a successful online investor.
Ellen is survived by her children William Perec, Margaret Perec (Matt Fletcher), Kevin P. H. Fitch, and Jude Fitch. Also left to cherish her memory are sisters Joan ten Hoor (James Dobson), Lois (ten Hoor) Sterenberg, brother- and sister-in-law Robert and Yolanda Fitch, and sister-in-law Noreen Fitch, as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kevin Patrick Fitch on November 6, 2018, and her parents.
