Janet Baird ’58 Weisiger

Janet Baird Weisiger, age 87 passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Janet was a native of New Jersey, attended Hope College, Holland, Michigan and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, New York City. She had held positions in public health, psychiatric and geriatric nursing. She also held position of Vice President for Development and Public Relations at Christian Health Care Center, Wyckoff, NJ.

An accomplished vocal soloist, she toured the United States, Canada, and Japan from 1972 through 1979 presenting over 1000 solo evangelistic concerts. She was soloist for Norman Vincent Peale in New York, Bermuda, Hawaii, and Mexico City. Soloist for the pre-Prayer Breakfast dinner in Washington D.C. in 1974 and produced three LP recording and had radio program in Christian radio station, New York City.

During the 90’s Janet’s articles and stories were published in Christian Periodicals. In 2012 she started writing a blog because of her miraculous healing form brain cancer, in 2018 she started writing a monthly column for the Holland Sentinel.

Janet was preceded in death in 2020 by her husband of 60 years, Richard (Dick) and she is survived by 4 children, Diana Bast ’89, Beth ’86 and Bruce Lomnitzer, Glen ’84 and Stephanie Weisiger, Carin ’88 and Kurt ’88 Arvidson, 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
