Wayne Kiel ’63

Wayne Kiel ’63, 87, died peacefully at his home on Dec. 19, 2016.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Donna; and by his children, Dan ’77, Scott ’79 (Caroline), Beth (Scott) MacGregor; grandchildren, Katie ’07 (Joe) Pitcher, Ross (Courtney) MacGregor, Abigail Kiel, Maxwell (Arianna) Kiel, Megan (Ryan) Lane, Andrew (MacKenzie) Kiel, Matt MacGregor; and great grandchildren, Miles, Evelyn, and Ada Pitcher; sisters, Arlene McGrath, Muriel Kaat, and Sharon (Mel) Vande-Gevel; and his in-laws, Lois Dickinson, Max and Karen Veldman, and Jim and Marcia Pol. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Connie Kiel; and brother, Dwight Kiel; and daughter- in-law, Janet Kiel.

Wayne grew up in Grand Rapids attending Lee High School, served in the U.S.

Army during the Korean War in the 179th Infantry Regiment as a medic, and graduated from Hope College and Western Theological Seminary.

He was a pastor at Peace Reformed Church in Middleville Michigan for 24 years, First Reformed Church of South Holland Illinois for five years, and served on the staff of Gun Lake Community Church for 15 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a servant of Christ to the churches and communities where he served. He dearly loved his Lord and his passion in life was to humbly share his faith with others.
