Judith Hoffman ’63 Ganeff
Judith Hoffman ’63 Ganeff, age 75, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016, following a short illness. Judith was born August 24, 1941 in Muskegon to Herman and Edna (Medema) Hoffman.
She received her B.A. degree in history from Hope College, and later received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Chicago. Judy had taught for a short time, worked with the Salvation Army, and then went on to be a social worker in the Chicago Public School System for more than 30 years, retiring in 2001.
Judy loved her adventures of canoeing, backpacking, traveling with Outward Bound. She was very passionate about travel, going all over the world, most recently visiting Italy, London, and the Mediterranean. She enjoyed family and organizing events and dinners throughout the years. She had a very loving presence, always thinking of others.
Judy was a wonderful flautist who never forgot a tune and she continued to work on a degree in Art History; demonstrating her love of art by writing and illustrating a children’s book.
She will be greatly missed and her memory cherished by her sons, John Gregory Ganeff of Chicago, and Peter William (Bess) Ganeff ’97 of Fort Wayne, IN; a granddaughter, Elizabeth; a sister, Marilyn Hoffman ’67 of Sylvania, OH; a brother, Robert (Yvonne) Hoffman ’72, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
