Timothy Tietz ’83
Timothy R. Tietz of Brick, NJ, passed away suddenly on Saturday, July 8, with his loving wife Karen by his side. Tim was 62 years old.
Born in Omaha, Nebraska, Tim lived throughout the Midwest before his parents settled in East Kentwood, Michigan. He graduated from East Kentwood High School in Michigan in 1979, and later from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. He worked in the building materials industry for over 40 years, most recently for Southern Carlson, Inc.
Tim is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen (Burke) Tietz, his beloved sons, Andrew, 32 and Jack, 28, his mother, Oriana (Thomas) Tietz, his brothers Mike ’87 (Jamie) and Chris (Jennifer) Tietz, and his sisters Debra O’Rourke (Brian) and Mary Ball (Jim). He also leaves behind his sisters- and brothers-in-law Carol and Joe Reilly, Nancy Burke, Barbara and Kevin Fritz, Colleen and the late Charlie Maguire, Steve Burke (Marjorie) and Kevin Burke (Amy), his mother-in-law Marie (Lynch) Burke, many loving nieces and nephews, as well as dear friends and colleagues.
Tim was predeceased by his father, Robert A. Tietz and his father-in-law, Royce Burke.
Throughout his life, Tim was an avid sports fan who played football and basketball in high school for the East Kentwood Falcons. He loved listening to WFAN, and his favorite teams were the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. In younger years, Tim greatly enjoyed deer hunting on his family’s property in the Upper Peninsula, Michigan with his dad and brothers. He also loved golfing with friends, family and work colleagues. Tim took great pride and joy in coaching his boys in Little League baseball. Some of his greatest memories were of family vacations in Wildwood Crest, NJ with Karen and their boys.
