Jane Noxon ’53 De Witt

Cary, North Carolina – Jane Noxon DeWitt, 92, of Cary, NC passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. Jane was born on August 3, 1931 in New York City, the daughter of Paul A. and Mildred S. Noxon. Jane was a 1953 graduate of Hope College in Holland, Michigan. She was the loving wife of Dale S. DeWitt whom she lost in 1994.

Jane spent her early married years working in retail and her later years as a homemaker and volunteering with a variety of organizations including the Cary Library and Dorcas Ministries. She enjoyed many years as a member of the Victorian Tea Society and she was a member of the First Reformed Church of Cary.

Jane was known for her wonderful joyful spirit and her unwavering optimism – both of which stayed with her until the end.

She is survived by her cherished family: sons Jeffery DeWitt of Garner and Steven DeWitt and wife Cathy of Raleigh, and grandsons Christopher DeWitt and Brian DeWitt and wife Jessica, and her dear great grandson Charlie DeWitt. Jane is predeceased by her husband Dale and her son Thomas P. DeWitt, her parents, and her loving sister Barbara Hohe of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The family will hold a private memorial service. She will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh alongside her husband and son. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Dorcas Ministries of Cary.
