Hazel Rozendahl ’60 Groenhof

Hazel passed away Friday, September 8, 2023 at New Hope Valley with her family by her side at the age of 86. She was born September 9, 1936 in Holland, Michigan to the late Louis and Marie (Rookus) Rosendahl. Hazel was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church. She was a school teacher, and she also taught Sunday school, played in a church handbell choir, and was a member of the Freeland Garden Club. Hazel enjoyed making crafts and jewelry, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Hazel is survived by her husband, Eugene Groenhof ’61, who she married August 18, 1962; two daughters, Lisa (Ricardo) Nava and Kristen (Lee) Ringel; five grandchildren, Stephanie Nava (Adam Stanfel), Katrina (Stefan) Josephson, Amanda (Shane) Hemphill, Matthew Ringel ’14 and Elizabeth Ringel ’16; three great grandchildren, William Hemphill, Talia Josephson and Eleanor Hemphill; sister, Esther Hanson. In addition to her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Veltman.
