Gilda Davis ’69 Holvick
Gilda Lynn Holvick (Davis) went to be with our Lord and Savior Wednesday August 3, 2022, at the age of 75. She was the lifeblood and heartbeat of her family, caring for all around her in the most selfless, loving way. Her kindness and internal beauty extended way beyond her family to all who knew her, and she will be remembered as someone who gave so much of herself to those around her. Gilda was born March 29, 1947, in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the oldest of five children. She graduated from Myers Park High School in 1965. She attended Hope College to major in K-12 education where she met the love of her life, Gary. After graduation they were married on August 15, 1970, and began their life together in Holland, MI. They soon moved to Fenton where they raised three boys and spent much time contributing to their community in many beautiful ways. Gilda was a teacher, wife, homemaker, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother who spent her time being there for her family in every way. She is preceded in death by her Father, Robert Davis, Mother, Patricia Schellin and Mother-in-law, Janice Carmon Holvick. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gary ’67; children, Gary (Brooke) Holvick of Fenton, MI, Brent Holvick of Yuba City, CA, Todd (Marie) Holvick of San Francisco, CA; grandchildren Jacob (22), Connor (19), Mia (13), Joshua (11), Maci (9), Amelia (3), Annie (1), and Emma (1). She is also survived by siblings, Bob (Laura) Davis, Dodie (Jack) Barton, Tom (Lori) Schellin, Patricia Mecklenburg, Deann Middleton and many beloved nieces and nephews.
