Billie Cable ’65

Billie Ann Cable, age 79, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2022. Born on August 24, 1943 in Cincinnati, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Frederica (Stevens) Chain. She was a resident at Mt. Healthy Christian Village.

Billie graduated from Mt. Healthy High School in 1961. She earned her Bachelor Degree in English from Hope College in Holland, MI and a Master’s Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University. She taught at Mother of Mercy High School from 1979-1997 involved with publishing the “Exetera” student newspaper. After retiring she continued her relationships with school students, former teachers, colleagues, and remained close to Sister Lucy Beischel (RIP). She devoted her life to teaching. She volunteered at the Cincinnati Zoo, Clovernook Center for the Blind, and after school tutoring programs. She taught children’s Sunday school and was active with churches including Forest Chapel UMC, Monfort Heights UMC, Epworth UMC (Charleston, SC) and other denominations. She loved animals especially cats, growing plants and flowers, writing little notes, and spending time with family. She was kind, generous, loving and put her heart in everything she did.

Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by uncle Raymond “Ray” Franklin Chain, aunt Betty (Ellis) Chain, aunt Viola Stevens and sister Susan (Chain) Kohne.

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Paul Cable; by her children, Christopher G. Kardux, Sean F. Kardux, daughter in law Ximena Ordonez and grandson William Joseph Kardux; Laura L. Cable and Linda J. Campbell, son in law Mark Campbell; grandchildren Alex (Autumn) Richards, Griffin Richards, and Morgan Campbell. Great grandson Finn Richards. Nephews Paul (Sheryl) Kohne, Robert (Holly) Kohne, Michael Kohne, and niece Renee Kohne Forbis.
