Phyllis Bursma ’58
Phyllis B. Bursma Obituary Phyllis Brink Bursma, 85, of Brewster, formerly of Sudbury, passed away peacefully on September 7th, 2021.
She was born in Holland, MI to John and Amy Brink and was raised in Hamilton, MI. She was a graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI where she met her husband Albert Bursma Jr. who predeceased her in 2012 after fifty-two years of marriage.
She lived in many states before residing permanently in MA. Phyllis was a pianist, world traveler, avid tennis player and philanthropist. A former teacher, Phyllis’ greatest joy was being an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Phyllis will always be remembered for her beautiful personality, warm wonderful spirit, bright eyes and contagious smile. Phyllis was predeceased by her brother Bruce Brink.
Survived by her sister Marty (Dave) Erb of Spokane, WA and her sister-in-law Patty Brink of Holland, MI. Also survived by her two children and their families: Jane and Mike McDonald of Boston and Jim and Amy Bursma of Sudbury. She has four grandchildren, Matt and Christopher McDonald and Cassie and Jessie Bursma. She has many nieces and nephews and their families whom she treasured.
