Marcia Berghorst ’53 Davis

Marcia Berghorst ’53 Davis of Knoxville, Tennessee, died on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017.

She was born in Zeeland, Michigan on May 13, 1931 and graduated from Hope College. Marcia was a second grade teacher until she became a full time homemaker. She enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies, needle work, writing funny poems, playing games with her grandchildren, and playing tennis with her friends at KRC. Most of all, Marcia loved her family, friends and her Central Baptist Bearden Church family. Her family celebrates her joyous entrance to her heavenly home.

Children blessed by her life: Anne Davis Colquitt, Tim Davis (Patti), Mike Davis (Pam), Mary Davis Dance (Darrell); grandchildren, Dustin Colquitt (Christia), Britton Colquitt (Nikki), Janie Dance Wells (Kendal), Carrie Dance Kinkade (Stephen) Griffin Davis, Landon Davis, Connor Davis; great-grandchildren, Brinkley, Colston, Hartley, Kinsler and Cannon Colquitt; Nash, Everly and Isla Kate Colquitt, Davis and Hank Wells; sister, Mary VanderWoude of Green Bay, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Rosamond Berghorst; brother, Bert John Berghorst.

The family would like to thank the angels who loved our mom so well at Little Creek, and you know who you are! A celebration of Marcia’s life will be held on Monday, August 14 at 7:00 pm at Central Baptist Bearden. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm prior to the service, in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marcia’s name may be made to Central Baptist Church of Bearden, attention Focus Ministries or Montgomery Village, 6300 Deane Hill Dr., Knoxville, TN 37919.
