Robert B. Reid ’62

Robert B. Reid, 75, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Monday, July 18, 2016, in Parry Sound, Ontario, Canada. He was born August 2, 1940, in Buffalo, New York, to the late Gerald and Phyllis (Wood) Reid.

He graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan where he lettered in baseball and basketball. In 1964, he moved to Mansfield, where he met most of his long time friends and started his career at Gold Bond Building Products. He then was employed as the National Sales Manager for Magnum Products. Where he didn’t just have customers but lifelong friends and business associates throughout the United States. He was a competitive athlete, who continued to play softball, basketball and golf his entire life.

He immensely enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Florida, going on cruises, and being around his race horses. The family cabin in Canada was his favorite place to visit.

Bob had friends in every aspect of his life; fraternity brothers, softball friends, and business friends. He was a very generous and giving person, he valued the time he spent with his family. His favorite past time of all was creating wonderful memories over the years with his children and grandchildren.

Bob is survived by four children, Robert S. Reid, Jane (Joe) Eagleston, Susan Shafer and Gerald (Susan) Reid; step children, Tim Dennison and Margie Dennison; grandchildren, Bobby, Brian and Morgan Reid, Kristi Walter, Abby Shafer, Tucker (Brandey) Peterson, Wade Peterson, Jared and McKenna Reid, Brooke Dennison, Erica (Cody) Hawkins, Dalton and Dillon Dennison, and Zachariah Vance; great-grandchildren, Drew and Kylie Walter and Rebecca and Amelia Peterson; and special friend Kate Welch and her grandson Caiden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sonni Reid; step son, Scott Dennison; and grandson, Cameron Hammond.
