John Meengs ’60

John R. Meengs, age 85, of Holland, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Corewell Health Butterworth Campus, following a brief illness.

Until his retirement, John was a Deacon at All Saints Episcopal Church in Saugatuck. He was also on the Board of Directors of Herrick Public Library, founded Teamwork employment services and served as a counselor at Wedgewood Christian Services and on-call chaplain for Holland Hospital.

John was preceded in death by his son, John Russel Meengs in 2001.

John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rose Meengs; daughter, Christine ( Kim) Brandt of Denmark; grandchildren, Alexandra Brandt, Nicholas Brandt; sister, Jane Feit ’67 of Indianapolis; inlaws, Ida (Bernard) Groenhof, Joan Nyhof, Ray ( Sharon) Nyhof, Elmer ( Leona) Nyhof, Robert (Linda) Nyhof, Ethel (Michael) De Pooter, Ken (Shirley) Nyhof.
