Carol Howes ’66 Wilbur

Carol Howes Wilbur, age 78 of Grand Haven, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2023, surrounded by her daughters at Trinity Health Muskegon Hospital.

She was born on June 27, 1944 in Schenectady, New York, to William and Vivian Howes II. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Holmes Wilbur in 2013. Carol graduated from Hope College and Western Michigan University and spent her career teaching elementary education at Spring Lake Public Schools.

She grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and enjoyed many summers there visiting with family and friends. Carol also enjoyed golfing, her bridge group friends, book club meetings, lunches with her college roommates, and countless hours watching her grandchildren in various sporting activities. She will be remembered as one who was always willing to host a get together for friends, enjoying a spur-of-the-moment shopping trip, and being a loving “Mimi” to her six grandchildren.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Amy (Ryan) Dalman and Kristin ’95 (Eric) Woiteshek; grandchildren: Andrew, Sara, and Connor Dalman, and Molly, Kendall, and Mallory Woiteshek. She is also survived by her brother, William (Katy) Howes III.
