Bruce Beimers ’62

Bruce Beimers, 88 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 18. He is survived by wife Delores, the love of his life for 63 years. He also leaves behind son Brett and Mary (Schat) daughter Darla (Shangle) and 3 grandchildren, Boone, Dory, Jade. Bruce was a Sergeant in the United States Army from 1956-1958. He graduated from Creston High School and Hope College and went on to be a school teacher at Northview High School. He was a beloved coach of the Northview boys cross country and track and field teams. Both of these teams won many awards and in 1967 his cross country team won the State Championship. Bruce and Dee loved to travel in their many motorhomes over the years buying and selling auto memorabilia and in 1983 they founded and owned the Kalamazoo antique toy show until 2010. Bruce owned a 1935 Auburn convertible and he and Dee, along with their grandkids, entered many parades and took several Best in Show awards. Bruce loved playing softball in Florida and in Grand Rapids and at age 82 he held the record for playing the longest game Bruce was a Gideon and his favorite scripture was Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts I have toward you”, says the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
