Marjorie Newton ’56 Lanier

Marjorie A. Lanier, of East Glenville, NY, died March 19, 2021 at Albany Medical Center from complications of Lambert-Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome. She was born June 22, 1934 in Palisades, NY, a daughter of William and Florence (Walden) Newton. On June 30, 1962, in Old Tappan, NJ, she married W. Terrell Lanier, who predeceased her on April 15, 1993. Marjorie was a graduate of Dumont High School, Dumont NJ and of Hope College, Holland MI. She was a former teacher in the Shenendehowa and South Colonie CSDs. She returned to substitute teaching after raising her children. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Schenectady, where she served the Lord in several roles. Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ was central to her life. She wanted nothing more than for people to know the Lord Jesus and put their trust in Him for their salvation. She devoted much prayer, time, and resources to helping many Christian ministries in their service to the Lord. Surviving are her children Lauri (Terry) Gordon of Sharon Springs, NY and Scott W. Lanier of Clifton Park, NY; grandchildren Patrick Stalteri and Taylor Lanier; a sister, Shirley (Ronald) Phillips; and two brothers, Rev. Howard Newton, and Richard (Evelyn) Newton; a niece, nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
