Verna Mason ’49 Krudys
Verna M. Krudys, 93, of Jamestown, passed away Monday, April 22, 2019 at Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing.
She was the widow of Walter B. Krudys whom she married March 29, 1952 and who died March 29, 1993. Verna was born in Jamestown on April 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Lynn and Elizabeth Milne Mason.
She was a graduate of Randolph High School and attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan. In earlier years, Verna had been employed by the former Jamestown General Hospital. A longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, she was active in many groups within the church over the years, particularly the church’s bi-annual rummage sale. In later years, Verna enjoyed travel, especially many Senior Citizen bus trips. She was also supportive of the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, the Audubon Nature Center, and looked forward to caring for her backyard gardens of both vegetables and flowers.
Verna is survived by her three sons: William, Robert (Barb) and John Krudys, as well as a grandson, Elliott Krudys, all of Jamestown. In addition to her husband Walt, Verna was preceded in death in 1944 by a brother, Charles Mason.
