Carl Tidd ’62
Carl M. Tidd age 80, of Hamilton, went to be with His Lord on Saturday, February 2, 2019, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus.
Carl was born on October 15, 1938, to Carl and Marietta (Rigterink) Tidd in Holland, MI. He graduated from Holland High School, attended Michigan State University, graduated from Hope College, and received his master’s degree from Western Michigan University.
He taught at Hamilton High School and was a guidance counselor at Grandville High School.
Carl was a member of Haven Reformed Church where he served as elder, deacon, and Sunday School teacher.
He was the last Justice of the Peace in Overisel Township, served as Supervisor of Heath Township, and was on the Board of Review in Manlius Township.
He loved watching grandkids in any activity in which they were engaged — from 4-H projects to sports. He enjoyed watching both the men’s and women’s basketball games at Hope College. He loved camping, his annual fishing trip to Canada with his Grandville buddies, reading western novels, and Hudsonville Ice Cream.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandchildren, Zachary and Emma Boeve.
Carl is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth; children, David (Jamie) Tidd of Hamilton, Kristin (Jason) Hileski of Boiling Springs, SC; 14 grandchildren, Alexandra Tidd, Brandi (Austin) Breuker, Jordan Boeve, Collin Tidd, Spencer Boeve, Mattthew Tidd, Grayson Tidd, Avari Tidd, Christopher Hileski, Ashley Hileski, Dillon (Jessica) Hileski, Devin Hileski, Michael Hileski, Noah Hileski; 3 great grandchildren, Emma Hileski, Caiden Hileski, Carson Hileski; siblings, Mark Tidd, Brian (Lorraine) Tidd, Susan (Dale) De Kraker, Mira Perrizo; Sister-inlaw, Judy Bale; several nieces and nephews.
