Georgia McCormick ’58 Brookstra
Georgia McCormick ’58 Brookstra was born on October 10, 1934 in Joplin, MO, the daughter of William and Lou (Woodruff) McCormick. Following high school, she attended Bradley University and Hope College, earning her bachelor’s degree in general studies. She was an independent interior designer for 55 years. She owned and operated “Interior and Bath Designs”, until her retirement in 1999. On June 8, 1956, she married Donald L. Brookstra in Davenport. Georgia was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Tri-T, a children’s outreach group. In her earlier years, she was an active member of Junior League.
She is survived by her Husband: Donald Brookstra of Davenport; Daughters: Deborah (Larry) Orendorff of Bettendorf, Sonya Brookstra Kavanaugh of Davenport; Sister: Patsy Manus of Hope, AR; Brothers: William (Lynn) McCormick of Tuscon, AZ, Edward McCormick of El Paso, TX; Son-In-Law: Jim French of Golden, CO; 5 Grandchildren: Graham French, Stevi (Cody) Schaapveld, Michele (Matt Ford) Orendorff, Thomas Orendorff, James Kavanaugh; and 3 Great-Grandchildren: Xander, Wyatt, Quinn.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca Brookstra French.
