Elaine Bolthouse ’52

Elaine Bolthouse ’52, age 87, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Grand Pines Assisted Living Center. She was born August 20, 1930, in Spring Lake to Adrian and Nellie (Geerling) Bolthouse. Elaine had resided at Grand Pines for the last four years and previously lived 83 years in Spring Lake. She graduated from Grand Haven High School and Hope College. Elaine was a music teacher at Mary White School, and a member of the United Methodist Church of the Dunes, where she served for many years as organist, and member of the Hannah Circle. She loved music and collecting Hummels. Elaine was an accomplished pianist, organist, and a philanthropist throughout her life. She also enjoyed eating lunch at the Pine Street Cafe in Ferrysburg, taken there by her favorite Rose Bud Cab. Elaine is lovingly remembered by cousins, Barbara Saum of Howell, Jody Saum of Howell, and David (Carol) Saum of Jackson. She was preceded in death by her aunt, Anne Geerling. A celebration of life will be held in the spring of 2018. Memorial contributions to Kindred Hospice or the United Methodist Church of the Dunes are appreciated.
