Thomas Moore ’60
Thomas Moore ’60, 83, of Swannanoa, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017. Mr. Moore was born August 29, 1934 in upstate New York to the late Robert and Margaret Moore.
He served in the Armed Forces before obtaining his bachelor’s degree fromĀ Hope College, and went on to earn an MBA. He moved to the Swannanoa Valley after retiring in 2000. Tom spent 36 years working for the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer. He and his family lived overseas in Thailand, Singapore, the Philippines, Italy, Japan, and Barbados during his career.
He was married to Evelyn Marie Moore for 56 years, and is survived by his three adult children, Heather Moore (Donato Sardella) of California, Jennifer Moore of Alaska, and Daniel Moore (Faryl) of Florida; grandchildren, Tristan, Jaden, Kian, and Ryker Moore, and Katherine Sardella. Tom was a beloved member of Warren Wilson Presbyterian Church and used to be a familiar face at the Warren Wilson pool along with his favorite dog Tigger for their weekly workouts. Tom was a potter, a Geezer, and an adventurer who lived a full, fascinating life.
