Howard Millard ’50
Howard Millard ’50, 88, of Zeeland, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017.
Howard was born in Brunswick on April 20, 1928, to Alvie and Hazel (Brouwer) Millard. Howard graduated from high school and went to college. He married the love of his life, Jean Meulendyke in 1950, and they raised their family in Zeeland. Howard was a safety engineer, and retired as the senior safety engineer for Herman Miller. Howard and Jean were also charter members of Faith Reformed Church of Zeeland. Howard and Jean enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Allegan and for several years wintering in Florida. In 2016, Jean preceded Howard in death.
Howard and Jean traveled extensively. They went on several cruises, and traveled through Europe. Howard enjoyed woodworking, and truly loved to go fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Dale and Cathy Millard of Grand Rapids, Steven and Linda Millard of Mechanicsburg, Penn., Barbara and David Timmer of Zeeland; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne and Jutta Millard.
