Alan Kieda ’80

Kieda, Alan D. Alan D. Kieda, age 67, of Cedar Springs, MI, died too soon on Friday, October 21, 2022.

Although he’s bodily no longer with us, he’s now worry-free in his Lord and Savior’s arms. Alan was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on December 14, 1954. On December 23, 1978, he married Alyson Blue in Grand Rapids, and they were married for 43 years.

Alan attended Kendall School of Design and graduated from Hope College. He had two careers. In his first, he worked for many years at Pine Rest Psychiatric Hospital in various capacities, including as a creative arts therapist. In his second, he did computer-aided design for Concrete Central.

Alan was a loving father and grandfather, and an adorer of his wife. He was a student of the Bible and of culture, a deep thinker, an artist, and a photographer. He was a creative, funny, intelligent man who loved collecting rocks and using them to landscape his yard; enjoyed camping, hikes, and drives in the country; loved creating art with daughter and grandkids and just spending time with family and friends . . . and so much more.

Alan is survived by his wife, Alyson ’79; children: Aaron Kieda, Rachel (Ryan) Campbell, and Justin (Kelly) Kieda; grandchildren: Samuel, Bridger, Moriah, Micah, Thomas, Jonah, Mara, Benjamin, and Elliot; and his siblings, Dan ’78 (Jean ’80) Kieda, Jan (Saleem) Durvesh, and Sharon (Rick) VandeKopple. He is preceded in death by his parents, Al and Lorraine Kieda, and his in-laws, Frank and Jean Blue.
