Dolores Bennett ’50 Day

Dolores Day passed away in her Colorado Springs, CO, home surrounded by family on December 20, 2021. She was 94 years of age.

Dolores was born August 31, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI. She attended Hope College in Holland, MI (1947-48) as an English major.

Young Robert Day, an acquaintance from high school and church was the apple of her eye…and when he returned from WWII duties they began dating, marrying in 1949.

Bob worked for General Electric throughout his career, moving the family of four children several times: Schenectady NY, Burlington IA, Morrison IL, and Carroll IA. Upon retirement, they moved to Tulsa, OK.

When Bob passed away in 1985, Dolores moved nearer to her children in Colorado Springs, CO.

Dolores was always active in her church and also led Bible studies in her neighborhood. She taught classes for young marrieds and young mothers and was a mentor to many.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Robert, and siblings Phyllis Andrea, Mary Sandling and Richard Bennett.

She is survived by her children Douglas Day of Colorado Springs, Mark Day of Colorado Springs, Cheryl Day ’78 (Gary ’76) Nieuwsma of Holland, MI and Steven (Brenda) Day of Spokane, WA. Dolores was blessed with 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A memorial service is in planning for the Spring/Summer season. Loving memorials may be gifted to Dolores’ passion for MotherWise (thrivingfamiliescolorado.org)
