Delwyn Sneller ’67

Delwyn “Del” Lee Sneller, 75, of Lake Ann, Michigan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at his home. Del was born on March 21, 1945 in Holland, Michigan to the late Bernard and Charlotte (Vander Schaaf) Sneller. He graduated from Hope College and Michigan State University with a Ph.D. in American Literature. He was a professor, machinist, winery cellar master, farmhand, rare book collector and electrical equipment distributor. For 15 years, his family farmed their large vineyard of wine grapes. He married the love of his life, Jereen Bergman, on December 16, 1966.

In 1998, he moved north, to Lake Ann near Traverse City, Michigan. There, he prospected gravel pits for agates and Petoskey stones. He worked for 12 years as an Orthopedic Technician, at Munson Medical Center in the Emergency Department and the morgue.

Delwyn is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jereen, three daughters; Michelle (Mickey) McGee, Emily (Aaron) Edel and Leslie Sneller. Also surviving are, a brother, Wayne (Marlene) Sneller, three granddaughters; Olivia Vaughan, Molly Martinez and Elizabeth Collins as well as five great-grandchildren and as always, his dogs.
