David Jipping ’72
David “Doc” Jipping, 71 of Valparaiso, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, after a battle with cancer.
He was born April 14, 1949 in Lansing, MI to James and Katherine Jipping. Doc graduated from Hope College and made his career as a Car Salesman at several dealerships in Northwest Indiana, before retiring in 2012. He was a member of the Valparaiso BPOE Elks Lodge #500 for over 20 years.
Doc enjoyed playing poker, golfing, watching football, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes and Chicago White Sox. He was a fighter, and showed great strength throughout the battles in his life. Doc will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
On June 9, 1979 in Valparaiso, he married Marsha Ann McNutt, who preceded him in death in 2017. He is survived by their children: Joshua Jipping and Jessica Jipping, both of Valparaiso; a granddaughter, Abigail Gerber; a brother, Don (Wilma) Jipping; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Doug Jipping.
