Jacquelyn Ferris ’53 Beerthuis
Jackie Beerthuis, 87, went home to be with her Savior on Jan. 4, 2018. She was born in Allegan. Her claim to fame was starting a restaurant in Holland which she named Jackie’s Place. She lovingly called herself “ the original Jackie.”
Jackie had a lifelong dream of living in Florida and that dream came true after she sold Jackie’s Place and moved to Clearwater, Fla., for 14 years. While living there, she worked at a restaurant and loved going to Clearwater Beach several times each week to enjoy the sun, water, and beach. She came back to Holland in 2010 to be with family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clare ( Andy) and Virginia Ferris; and by her brothers- in- law, George Slikkers and Roger Scholten. Jackie is survived by her children, Kirk and Barb Beerthuis of Tequesta, Fla., Claire and Mike Rotman of Holland, Kevin and Pam Beerthuis of Pullman, Daniel Beerthuis of Holland and David and Karen Beerthuis of Alanson. Also, two sisters, Maralyn Slikkers and Barb Scholten, six grandchildren and several great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a. m. Friday, Jan. 12, in the Chapel at Central Wesleyan Church, 446 West 40th Street(Entrance D or G). Rev. Birt Hilson will officiate.
Visitation will be 7- 9 p. m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd St.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Holland or Central Wesleyan Church – Benevolent Fund.
