Vivian Dykema ’47 Krause

Vivian Dykema ’47 Krause of Westwood, MA, formerly of Dover, MA, died peacefully at home on November 3, 2016 at age 91. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Vivian is survived by her husband of 62 years Carl K. Krause, and children: Kathryn Krause of Millis, MA, Mary Recchia and husband Carl of Charlotte, VT, Paul Krause and wife Joanne of Northborough, MA, Peter Krause of Mattapoisett, MA, and Ellen Teplitz and husband Steven of Chevy Chase, MD. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kayla Armstrong, Laura Krause, Nicholas Krause, Peter George Krause, Andrew Teplitz, Benjamin Recchia, Matthew Teplitz, and Abby Krause.Born in Muskegon, MI, Vivian was the daughter of the late Wilhelmina and John Dykema, and sister of Nicholas Dykema, N. Muskegon, MI, Adrian Dykema, Charlotte, NC, and the late Andrew Dykema, and the late James Dykema.

Vivian graduated cum laude from Hope College with degrees in History and English. She later received her master’s degree from the University of Michigan in History. Prior to having children, she was a high school educator in Michigan. An accomplished quilter, Vivian enjoyed sewing in many forms, but particularly costumes for many Dover Foundation plays. She closely followed the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics sports teams and was a member of The Dover Church for 44 years. Devoted to her family, Vivian especially looked forward to annual summer vacations at Waterville Valley, NH, with her children and grandchildren.
