Kate Pitchford ’14

Kate Pitchford ’14 is working for the communications team on the Africa Mercy, a non-governmental hospital ship, and will be in Douala, Cameroon, until July 2018. Mercy Ships is an international organization that operates around the world, currently focusing on West Africa. The communications team includes photographers, videographers and writers, and Kate is one of two media liaisons on board. Their job is to facilitate visits by international and local news teams who want to feature the ship in some way, in order to promote Mercy Ships and its mission to provide safe and affordable surgery for those who lack access to basic medical care. She also discovered Steve Schwind ’90 on board as a staff development manager.
