Karen Barber-Gibson

Karen J. Barber- Gibson, age 77 of Holland, passed away after a long battle with cancer on October 14, 2021 in her home surrounded by her family.

Karen worked at Hope College for over 25 years in the Modern and Classical Languages Department as an office manager. She was an avid reader, aMaster gardener, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She and her Cocker Spaniel “ Penny” were Visiting Pet Therapy Volunteers for Spectrum Health Hospice. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, R.E. & Wilda Barber; brother, Robin Barber; parents in- law, Forrest & Nadine Gibson; and brotherin- law, Donn Gibson.

Karen is survived by her loving husband of 28 years Terry Gibson; daughter, Kate ( Jeff) Voetberg; grandchildren, Maggie Voetberg, Lily Voetberg; sister, Candy Speet; sister-in-law, Karen (Robert) Yonker, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
