James Pratt ’81

James Michael Pratt Jr.”Jamie,” 61 of Zeeland, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at his home.

Jamie was born October 4, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri, to James Sr. and Helen ” Betty” ( Cook) Pratt. Jamie grew up in Lansing, Michigan and went to Hope College. He majored in Biology and met Paula Koops. After graduating, Jamie and Paula married in 1985 and started their life journey together. They first lived and worked in Brownsville, Texas, then Grand Rapids (Heritage Hill). Jamie received his master’s degree inManagement from Aquinas College. In 1995 they moved to Zeeland and raised their two children there. Many knew him from his morning walks around town with the family’s schnauzer. Jamie worked as a financial advisor until his retirement in the past year. They are members of First Reformed Church. Jamie loved music, history, traveling, cooking and spending time with his family and friends until his battle with cancer came to an end.

Jamie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Paula, their daughter Hannah and Tim Schroll of LaPorte, Indiana, their son Dr. Cameron and Allison Pratt of Atlanta, Georgia, beloved granddaughter Clara Elizabeth Schroll, parents: James Sr. and Betty Pratt, parents-in-law: Ed and Sharon Koops, siblings: Greg and Denise Pratt, Debbie Trudell, Linda Pratt, Steve and Ronda Pratt, inlaws: Chris and Paul DeVisser, Kurt and Kelly Koops, Karla and Paul Fikse, and many extended family and friends.
