He graduated from Three Oaks High School in Three Oaks, Michigan. He received a B.A. from Hope College and an M.S from Western Michigan University. Most of his working career was spent as a Pharmaceutical Representative for 3M Pharmaceuticals. Jack spent three years in the United States Army as a communications specialist. In 1969, Jack married Mary Kooiman whom he met at Hope College. Together they raised three children: Heidi, (Judd) Emery, Mark, (Laura) Ligtenberg, and Lenee, (Matt) Hall. He was a proud dad and a grandfather to eight fabulous grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-sister Dorie Meendering and step-sister-in-law Mary Vanderkolk. He loved God with all his heart and cared deeply for his family.

The Bible verse he wishes to leave is: II Corinthians 4:16-18, NIV, “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
