Kenneth Ruys ’50

Kenneth Ruys was born in Holland, Michigan to Mabel and Andrew Ruys. He is preceded in death by his wife Jonnie Ruys and two sons Kenneth Brickey (Brick) and John Anthony (Tony).

He served in the Navy on The Eurayle in WW2 in the South Pacific. He met his wife, Jonnie, in Johnson City, TN and they were married in June 1949 and were married for 57 years before Jonnie passed away in 2006.

He was the proud father of three children; Brick, Tony and Lin. Andrew is the only grandchild, he is Lin’s son.

Ken loved his work at Gaylord Entertainment/WSM/Opryland in the role of Comptroller from 1975 -1991 when he retired. After retiring, he led a quiet life with his wife and enjoyed travelling, going on cruises and attending naval reunions around the country.
