John Tousley ’81

John Tousley ’81, age 59, of Waupun, WI, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 21, 2018, at his home. John was born on December 19, 1958, in Royal Oak, MI, the son of John Clifford and Barbara Joan (Ridall) Tousley. John graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hope College in MI in 1981 with a BA in Religion. He went on to attend Western Seminary in MI where he earned his Master of Divinity in 1985 and was recognized with the Presidential Scholarship for academic excellence. In later years, John furthered his education at Moraine Park Tech. College in WI, where he earned both an Associate Degree in Radiation Therapy and a certificate diploma as a nursing assistant, and graduated with high honors. During his career, John served as a pastor at several churches, including Second Reformed Church in Fulton, IL; North Park Reformed Church in Kalamazoo, MI; Washington Reformed Church in Ackley, IA; and Alto Christian Reformed Church in Alto, WI. He was also employed with Kraft Heinz Company in Beaver Dam, WI for a number of years, and enjoyed serving as an elder at Second Christian Reformed Church in Randolph, WI. On August 23, 1980, John was united in marriage to Sandra Adele Brown in Mt. Pleasant, MI. John was a humble servant of the King, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His commitment to the Lord was rock-solid. His devotion to his wife and family was unshakable. His generosity to others was incredible, in spite of limited means and an intentionally simple lifestyle. He listened more than he spoke, and delighted in studying the Bible and committing large passages of Scripture to memory. He enjoyed God’s creation and went for long walks every day. He had a tender heart towards animals large and small. He was a much-loved son, husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be greatly missed. John is survived by his wife, Sandy; daughter, Megan (Eric) Nollet of Grand Rapids, MI; a grandson, Skyler Nollet; mother, Barbara Tousley of Brimfield, IL; two sisters, Janice (Richard) Driessnack and Leslie (Chris) Corneau; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, John Tousley, in 2013.
