Virginia Reed ’74 Kruisenga

Virginia Reed ’74 Kruisenga of Hudsonville, Michigan, died on Tuesday, July 11, 2017. She was 64.

She was preceded in death by her parents Walter Jr. and Helen Reed; brother Tom (Nancy) Reed; parents-in-law Marvin and Marie Kruisenga. She will be lovingly missed by her husband Robert Kruisenga; children Rob (Laura) Kruisenga, Cindy (Mike) Rankens, Karen Kruisenga Cornelius; six granddaughters Gretta, Ella, Ally, Paige, Molly and Madison; siblings Walter (Toni) Reed, John (Heidi) Reed, Phil (Teresa) Reed; in-laws Ken Kruisenga, Ann (John) LeJeune; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ginny was a Hope College graduate, the class of 1974. She spent 27 years as a teacher for Lakewood Public Schools, was a Choir Director for Central United Methodist Church and an active member of Lakewood Area Choral Society.  She was a Hospice volunteer and loved to attend Bible Study Fellowship.  Ginny was a strong fighter who had a positive attitude throughout her seven-year battle with cancer.

She enjoyed playing bridge, singing, teaching, family gatherings, hosting friends, and traveling. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed.

Visitation with the family will be held 1 4 p.m. and 6 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Cook Funeral Home, 2067 84th Street, Byron Center, MI 49315.  Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at Georgetown Christian Reformed Church, 6475 40th Avenue, Hudsonville, MI 49426.  The Reverend Ben Ridder of Lake Odessa Harvest Community Church will be officiating.  Committal service for family will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa. In honor of Ginny and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or the Lakewood Area Choral Society.
