Ruth Wolting ’75 Prince

Ruth Wolting ’75 Prince of New Era, Michigan, died on Monday, July 3, 2017 in Detroit, Michigan following a lengthy illness. She was
64.

She was born May 18, 1953 in Shelby, the daughter of Joseph and Doris Wolting. She graduated from Hope College in Holland. She married her best friend and love of her life, Ken Prince, on August 17, 1974. Ruth was an art teacher for the Fremont Public Schools for her entire career.

She was a talented artist and devoted her life to sharing her love of art with her students. After retiring from teaching, she continued to volunteer her time for school activities. She was also a talented gardener who loved growing flowers. Visitors would come from miles around to view her beautiful garden every summer.

She is survived by her husband, Ken; her mother, Doris; sisters Mary Lynn (Bill) Seid, Susan (Kim) Rochau, and Joan (Tom) Lyon, brother Don (Luanne) Wolting; numerous nieces and nephews; beloved in-laws; and too many friends to count. She was preceded in death by her father. Ruth dearly loved cats and dogs. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to L.A.S.S.I. (Local Animal Shelter Support, Inc.) , P. O. Box 160, Pentwater, MI 49449 to help the homeless animals she loved so much. A gathering to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Friday, July 7, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the New Era Reformed Church.
