Lois Taylor ’57 De Zeeuw

Lois Taylor ’57 De Zeeuw of McBain, Michigan, died on Sunday, Sept. 3, 2017.  She was 82.

Lois was born January 30, 1935, to Weller and Clara (VanderVlucht) Taylor at the Taylor family home. She married Peter DeZeeuw on November 29, 1957, at the Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church.

Lois was a homemaker her entire life and took pride in taking good care of her home and family. She graduated from McBain Public High School and attended Hope College for two years. She was a wonderful helpmate to her husband through a life of dairy farming. She was a lifelong member of Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church and was active in women’s ministry, sang in the choir and played the church organ and piano in years past. Her outreach ministry in later years was crocheting around flannel baby blankets, which she would give to family members and new babies in the church.

Lois will be lovingly remembered by her children and grandchildren. She is survived by children, Ruth (Ivan) Stahl of McBain, Brian (Dale Marie) DeZeeuw of Lake City, Evon Belflower of Georgetown, Georgia, Diane Koster of Falmouth, and Ken (Brenda) DeZeeuw of McBain. Grandchildren surviving are Aaron Stahl, Michael (Dana) Stahl, Julie Stahl, Bryann DeZeeuw, Brandon (Amber) DeZeeuw, Sarah Ruth Belflower, Garret Koster, Grant Koster (fiancé Amanda), Gretchen Koster, Keegan (Angel) DeZeeuw, Seth (Megan) DeZeeuw, Haven DeZeeuw, Averom DeZeeuw, Kenda DeZeeuw and Zachery DeZeeuw. Her great-grandchildren are Ellida, Willa, Abe, Henry, Finn, Jasper, Kobyn and Atlys DeZeeuw. She has several surviving siblings, including Muriel (Ted) Schierbeek of Byron Center, Helen (Sam) Hofman of Holland, Doris Brumels of Holland, Keith (Olga) Taylor of Ithaca, New York, Jean (Chuck) VanEngen of Holland; a sister-in-law, Sadako Ohki of New Haven, Connecticut; and in-laws, Bill (Donna) DeZeeuw of McBain, and Rich (Carol) DeZeeuw of Falmouth.

Many relatives, nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter DeZeeuw; sons-in-law, Charlie Belflower, and Gary Koster; a granddaughter, Jessica Stahl; and in-laws, Cy Cnossen and Bruce Brumels.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2017, at 11 a.m. at the Lucas Rehoboth Reformed Church, with the Rev. Rod Kamrath officiating. Burial will be in the Lucas Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. and from 10 a.m. on Saturday prior to funeral services.
