Mark Vande Brake ’71

Mark was born March 3, 1949, and passed away the morning of July 11, 2016 in his home surrounded by his family, after a difficult and long battle with cancer.

Mark earned a Bachelors and Master of Arts degree from Hope College and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville respectively. He specialized in print making. He documented his inner life with a huge journal of felt pen drawings and water colors comparable in scope and significance to psychologist, Carl Jung’s “Red Book”.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Katie Theurer ’72 Vande Brake; children, Sally (Joshua) Colby, Jacob (Guinevere) Vandebrake; grandchildren, Kathryn , Elizabeth; and numerous siblings and their families.
