Mark Tracy Wheeler ’08

Mark Tracy Wheeler,48, of South Haven, Michigan passed away on Saturday July 2, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

Mark was born September 14, 1967 to James Wheeler and Bernice Mayberry in Chicago, IL. Mark and his parents moved to Lacota, MI in May 1968. He graduated from Fennville High School in 1985. Shortly after graduating, he joined the United States Marines, after his tour of duty, he returned home and met his beloved wife Angela West and to this union was born a daughter Autumn Raven Wheeler.

Mark Professed his faith in Christ at an early age, but after his service in the military, he heard the calling of God on his life and attended Hope College. There, he received a BA in Religion. He continued his education at WMU and received his Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology.

He became the Assistant Pastor at Greater Faith Community Church, where he was a founding member and Vice President of ICCC West Michigan. He was also the music director where God anointed him to play the piano, along with Men’s Route 66 speaker, Cub Scout Master for Pullman Elementary School, and on South Haven Zoning Board of Appeals.

He was a Christian Counselor with an Office at Casco United Methodist Church, where he was also a Certified Lay Minister. Mark served his church and community very well.

Mark was preceded in death by his daughter Brittany Marie Wheeler. Mark is survived by his wife Angela, daughter Autumn, son Isley (Amaris) West, three grandchildren Raymond, Mason, and Amira of South Haven, MI, Mother Bernice (Edgar) Thomas of Pullman, MI, Father James Wheeler of Lacota, MI, one Brother Eric (Theresa) Wheeler of Constantine, MI, and God Daughter Tapreccia Anderson. Five Aunts: Helen Mayberry of Pullman, MI, Thelma (Robert) Wilson of Harvey, IL, Earlene Woods of Conway, AR, Elizabeth Smith of Kalamazoo, MI, Betty Rayford of Grand Rapids, MI. Eight Uncles: Grady, Ephraim Jr, and Herman Mayberry of Lexington, MS, John and Lester Earl Mayberry of Chicago, IL, Jessie Wheeler Jr. of South Haven, MI, and Paul Wheeler of Muskegon, MI. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, inlaws, a very special brother in the Lord Elder Darryl Williams, and his mentor in the Lord Rev. David W. Meister also survive.
