Karen June VanderWerf ’63 Ver Hulst

Karen June Ver Hulst, 74, of Wyoming, went to be home with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Marge Vander Werf; and her sister, Virginia Vander Werf. Karen graduated from Hope College in 1963. She was a good and faithful servant at Grace Reformed Church for over 50 years where she also served as an organist, gardener and in many other capacities. Over the past 61 years, Karen taught piano lessons to countless students. She was a meticulous gardener as evidenced in her words by “ God’s Garden” at Grace Reformed Church and at home. Her faith and family were paramount in her life.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of nearly 54 years, William; her children, Clark ’85 and Meribeth Ver Hulst, Julie and Brett Dyke, Bart ’92 and Rosemary Ver Hulst; grandchildren, Jordan ( Julie) Ver Hulst, Ashleigh VerHulst ’11 ( Austin) Bettis, Zack Ver Hulst, Steven and Evan Dyke, Harrison Ver Hulst; great grandchildren, Kynlee Ver Hulst, Amayah Bettis; sister, Elaine VanderWerf ’60 ( Gordon) Damsteegt; brother-in-law, John ( Jean) Ver Hulst; sisters- in- law, Lois ( Jack) Kelly, Phyllis ( Bruce) Moody, Shirley ( Jim) Wissink; many nieces and nephews.
