Patricia Nelson ’90 Grønborg

Patti Nelson Grønborg Karup, Denmark – Patti Nelson Grønborg, 55, passed away on February 10, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Schenectady, NY, she grew up in Scotia, where she was very active in music, dance, drama, and cheerleading, participating in numerous high school music groups and theater productions. She had roles in several musicals with the Schenectady Light Opera Company, and spent many summers on staff at Camp Fowler in Speculator, NY. In 1986, she graduated from Scotia-Glenville High School, and moved on to Hope College, in Holland, MI, where she graduated with a major in Dance.
After college, Patti moved to New York City, where she worked as a software specialist for York Air Conditioning. While there she also became active in NJ community theater. Later she relocated to Sedro-Woolly, WA, where she worked for Case’s Ladder.
While on a company cruise, she met her future husband Ole Grønborg, marrying in 2006, and settling in Karup, Denmark. There, Patti became a valuable English speaking employee of Mascot Workwear. Continuing with her love of dance, she grew to be a Facilitator and Ambassador with GROOVE, a global dance and exercise organization. Through travel as well as local and remote sessions, she met friends and fans around the world!
Patti is survived by her husband Ole, her mother Barbara Nelson, father and mother-in-law Bruno and Anny Grønborg, brother and sister-in-law Jeff Nelson and Ann Marie Romanczyk, brother and sister-in-law Tim Nelson and Julie Giglio, sister-in-law Karina Grønborg, nephews Joseph, Graham, Mark, and nieces Rachel, Rebecca, and Mia, as well her as beloved dogs Bailey and Cassie, and cats Bonnie and Clyde. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Nelson.
