Delwyn Komejan ’57

Delwyn (Del) Duane Komejan, 89, was born March 1, 1935, in Holland, Michigan to Helen and Gilbert (Corky) Komejan. He passed April 25, 2024, at his home in Saugatuck, Michigan surrounded by his wife, Helen Komejan and loving family. Del was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Komejan, parents Gilbert and Helen, and his grandson, Alexander Torres.

Del graduated from Zeeland High School, served in the United States Army, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hope College. He spent most of his professional career at American Seating Company where he retired as Director of Sales, Midwest following nearly 40 years of dedicated employment. Del was an outstanding salesman and was recognized as “Businessman of the Year” from the American Public Transit Association.

Del was the proud father of daughters Della Diane Torres (Drew), Darcy Komejan Fluharty (Bill), stepchildren, Steve Ervin (Judy), Chris Boniberger (Steve), and Erin Bryant (Tom).

He loved to garden, play and watch sports, and follow politics; believing strongly that staying informed and involved was critical. Del spent most winters in his home on Anna Maria Island, Florida where he could be found on his daily walks on the beach before the sun even rose!

Del cherished his most important role as “Papa” to his 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren who already miss his sense of humor and playful banter.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, children, grandchildren, and siblings Ron Komejan (Carol), and Sandy Machiele (Dick).
