Henry Dykema ’67

James Dykema, age 76, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2022. Henry was born to Frederick & Elizabeth Dykema on November 12, 1945. Henry grew up in Grant, MI, studied chemistry in college and then became a teacher at Grant Public Schools. He was initially a 5th grade teacher for a short time, then he became a high school chemistry and algebra teacher. Henry spent a total of 30 years teaching at Grant Public Schools. He was a devoted husband and father. Henry loved fishing with his sons, Karl & Erik and he enjoyed traveling and exploring in Michigan with his wife, Judy. During their Michigan adventures, they would often go cross country skiing, snowshoeing and head to the UP to collect rare rocks and minerals. Henry is survived by his beloved wife of many years, Judy Dykema (Kirkeby), children; Karl & Erik Dykema, grandchildren; Freya and Maeve Dykema and siblings; Richard Dykema and Kathy Perez.
