Gary Raterink ’60

Gary Junior Raterink, age 86 of Grand Rapids, Michigan went to his Eternal home on Saturday, July 16, 2022.

 Born September 4th,1935 in Zeeland MI he is survived by his sons Jim (Tammy) and Steve (Alyssa) and his 7 grandchildren, Brandon, Sam, Amanda (Goins), Hope, Isabelle, Marielle & Alexis Raterink; sisters Lorraine Becksfort, Betty Morren and brother Harvey Raterink. He is preceded in death by Neda, his wife of 48 years, his parents Leonard & Anna Raterink and brother Jase Raterink.  He proudly served in the armed forces after high school before attending Hope College and receiving his bachelor’s in accountancy. He then attended Michigan State University and completed his Master of Business Administration.  Gary began his career in public accounting at Seidman and Seidman before becoming a partner at Kregel, Raterink & Kingma, which became Rehmann Robson KRK in 1991. After a 30-year career in public accounting, Gary chose to serve as the Director of Finance at Wedgwood Christian Services. He later transitioned into his current role as a Planned Giving Officer where he just celebrated his 30th anniversary.  Gary was an active member at Cascade Fellowship CRC where he served in many ministries over the years. He had a passion for Stewardship and Prayer. Gary was beloved by all who met him. He was respected for his words of wisdom, gentle spirit, servant heart and sense of humor. He was a quiet leader in all areas of his life. His greatest mission on earth was to advance the Kingdom of God.
