Anna Mulder ’10 Nieboer

With extreme sadness, we announce the death of Anna Marie Nieboer of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Who passed away on May 21, 2022, leaving her family and friends heartbroken. Anna was a thoughtful friend, beloved wife, daughter, and sister, foster parent, holistic midwife, and fierce advocate for the health of all women.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 27th, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Centerpoint Church (2345 10th St N, Kalamazoo, MI 49009). A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27th, 2022 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 29th, 2022 at 4:00 PM at Kalamazoo Nature Center (7000 N Westnedge Ave, Kalamazoo, MI 49009).

Anna M. Nieboer, age 33, died peacefully at home with her family beside her on May 21, 2022, after a long battle with cholangiocarcinoma. Cholangiocarcinoma is a group of cancer cells that begin in the bile duct. This type of cancer is highly rare to occur. Anna was a bright student and excelled in academics. After graduation from Kalamazoo Christian High School in 2007, she attended Hope College and graduated in 2011 with her BSN degree.

Anna Nieboer is survived by her parents Dennis and Laurie (Bonnema) Mulder, her husband Andrew Nieboer, their four children: Levi (11), Holland (8), Hendrik (6), and Lana (3). Her family includes; her parents-in-law: Ken & Joan Nieboer; her brothers: Silas (Jennifer) Mulder and Jake (Lauren) Mulder; her sisters-in-law: Alicia (Craig Hoffman) Nieboer and Jessica (Brett) Riggs; 8 nieces and nephews; her grandparents: Katherine Bonnema, Eileen Mulder, Gertrude Nieboer, and Henry & Claire Visser; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Anna was a labor and delivery nurse at Bronson Hospital for seven years. After receiving her MSN degree in Nurse-Midwifery from Frontier University, she went on to assist women and children at Bronson Hospital and Holy Family Healthcare where she helped establish the Novo Women+Girls Clinics. Anna’s love and holistic expertise impacted the lives of countless women, children, and families.
