Rebecca Allen ’65 Hintze

Rebecca Allen Hintze April 20,1943- April 7, 2021 Resident of Pleasanton, CABecky lost her battle with heart and kidney disease on April 7, 2021. She was born April 20, 1943 to Charles and Gwendolyn Allen in South Haven Michigan. She was preceded in death by her sister Dorothy, brothers Don and Bill. She is survived by husband Ray, children Brian, Nicholas, and Maria, and grandchildren Giovanni and Izzabella.Becky obtained her Bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Hope College, Holland Michigan, Master’s degree in chemistry from University of South Florida, Tampa Florida, and PhD degree in chemistry from the University of California at Santa Barbara.She was employed as an instructor in chemistry at UCSB, as a chemist at Armor Dial in Chicago and Phoenix, and as a research manager at Shaklee Corporation in Hayward California. Her “retirement” job was as a campus supervisor and science teacher at Foothill High School in Pleasanton. Becky was a natural athlete, with skills in softball, bowling, golf, volleyball, and racquetball. She was also a natural coach for her children’s teams in soccer, basketball, and baseball. Competition in sports was always fierce, fighting to be the best that she and her team could be.Becky loved family vacations in Maui, body surfing, snorkeling, and tide pooling. She also enjoyed camping with her family at R-Ranch where swimming, hiking, horseback riding, and fishing with her children and grandchildren were summer highlights. She was a loving, caring person, always looking out for the underdog and supporting them. Her cats were also on the receiving end of endless love and attention
