Mary Handlogten ’67

Mary Handlogten Gainesville Mary Handlogten, 76, passed away on February 7, 2021 in Gainesville, Florida. She was born on January 6, 1945 in Coopersville. Michigan to Harvey and Mae (Bolthouse) Handlogten. She graduated from Coopersville High School in 1963 and Hope College in 1967. She earned her Masters Degree in Biological Chemistry while working at the University of Michigan . In 1981 she moved to Florida to continue her research work as a Biological Scientist at the University of Florida . She retired in 2016. Mary enjoyed attending and volunteering at the Phillips Center, watching University of Florida sports, and (after retiring) activities at the Alachua County Senior Center. Mary is survived by her brother, Gordon Handlogten, sister, Jane(Ross) Hamlin, nephew, Christopher Hamlin, niece, Jennifer (Mark) Vysoky and great-nephew, Seth Vysoky.
