Carl Gomes II ’72

Carl II was born Dec. 29, 1950 in Springfield, Illinois, to Lois Ruth and Carl Wilbert Gomes. Carl, an Eagle Boy Scout and former enlistee of the Air National Guard during the Vietnam era, was a graduate of Oakmont High School, Oakmont, PA and earned a BS in Biology from Hope College, a BS and a Masters in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh and an MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Carl was a soft-spoken man that always seemed to have a smile on his face. One cousin, Lynn Cowen, says “I’ll always remember his laugh, I can hear it now.” Carl was a devoted Christian and loved his time at church and with fellow parishioners. He enjoyed photography, camping and car races, NASA First robotics, and other community activities. He was active in Civil Air Patrol while his son, Matt, was growing up. Carl was preceded in death by his mother, Lois, father, Carl I, and his sister, Sheri Jean. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Lowe and their son, Ryan Gomes, and by his former wife, Ann Marie (Trozzi) Gomes, and their three children, Kevin Gomes, Becky McBride and Matt Gomes, a granddaughter, Rose McBride and his brother, David Gomes.
